The Bank of Canada publishes the 2023 edition of the Financial System Review

OTTAWA—The Review of the financial system will be released on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Description

There Review of the financial system summarizes the Bank of Canada’s Governing Council members’ assessment of the key vulnerabilities and risks threatening the stability of Canada’s financial system. There review also underlines the efforts of the institute and other national and international regulators to limit these risks. It begins with an overview of macro-financial conditions and continues with a review of key vulnerabilities and risks.

Behind closed doors

At 7:30 a.m. ET, journalists can see that Review of the financial system during a closed session at the Bank’s Ottawa headquarters (entrance to the Bank of Canada Museum, 30 Bank Street and the corner of Wellington Street) and at its Toronto regional office (Council Room, 20e Floor, 150 King Street West). Please present your photo ID.

For security reasons, journalists wishing to attend the closed session must confirm their attendance no later than Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 12 p.m. ET. Entry is not possible without prior registration.

At 10am ET the closed session ends and the embargo is lifted.

At 8:30 am ET, senior bank officials will give a briefing and answer questions from reporters about the content of the event Review of the financial system. The information gathered on this occasion may be used freely in any news bulletin, article or chronicle provided nothing is attributed to the Bank or its officers. Electronic recording of the meeting is not permitted.

At 11:00 a.m. ET, Bank Governor Tiff Macklem and Senior Deputy Governor Ms.Me Carolyn Rogers will hold a press conference in the Bank of Canada Auditorium.

For security reasons, all media representatives wishing to attend the press conference must register with the bank in advance. Please contact us by 12:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Notice to journalists, cameramen and on-set photographers that no entry will be granted without prior registration.

Please appear at the entrance to the Bank of Canada Museum at 30 Bank Street (corner of Wellington Street) with photo ID in hand.

Those who need to set up transmission equipment will be able to access the room starting at 10am ET.

Please note that journalists who are not on site for the press conference can register for questions via telephone conference by request by request.
