Now it’s Brendan Gallagher’s turn to audition for the Canadiens’ front row.
The veteran forward practiced with Nick Suzuki and Alex Newhook on Tuesday to prepare for the next day’s game against the Ducks in Anaheim.
This choice was criticized by many observers, including our contributor Maxim Lapierre on TVA Sports’ “JiC.”
“We test a lot of things. It’s hard to follow. If we go by the performances, we have to admit that Gallagher has worked hard since the beginning of the season and his performances are above expectations. It’s a gift for him. It sends the message to the rest of the team that if you play right, you’ll get a little reward every now and then. But do I want to see it here? Not all!
“A first trio is not a test trio. It makes me happy to see Harvey-Pinard or Slafkovksy with Suzuki and Caufield, but a star player is missing to play with them,” said the ex-agitator.
According to Lapierre, the solution is a transaction.
“When are we going to make a move to get a player to support Suzuki and Caufield? A piece that accompanies these two players has been missing for some time. It can’t be that players come every two weeks.”
