The series of rivalry ends in Quebec

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada has announced that the Canada women’s national team will host the US women’s national team in Quebec next month for the final games of the Rivalry Series for the first time since 2017.

Long-time rivals will meet on February 20th at the Colisée Vidéotron in Trois-Rivières and on February 22nd at the Place Bell in Laval.

After back-to-back wins in December in Henderson, Nevada and Los Angeles, California, Canada, the reigning world and Olympic champions’ team could win the 2022-2023 Rivalry Series if they win both matches on the Quebec floor.

“We’re excited to bring the Rivalry Series to Quebec next month and face the United States in Trois-Rivières and Laval,” said Marie-Philip Poulin (Beauceville, QC), team captain of the National Women’s National of Canada. “We hope these games will inspire young girls and boys to pursue their hockey dreams and we can’t wait to play at home in front of the best fans in the world.”

Tickets for each game will be offered to the public on the website from January 23 HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets.

Last month, Hockey Canada Announces New Athlete Agreement with members of the Canada Women’s National Team, which includes a revenue-sharing arrangement for National Rivalry Series games that allows athletes to benefit from revenue generated at those events.

These Rivalry Series games will be played in partnership with the Montreal Canadiens and the Trois-Rivières Lions, the Canadiens-affiliated ECHL team.

The 2022-23 Rivalry Series kicked off in November and the Americans lead a narrow 3-2 after five games.
