The best player available to the Canadiens could be a defenseman

Last year, in a draft full of offensive talent, the Montreal Canadiens opted to select defenseman instead David Reinbacher fifth choice overall. Will the Canadian turn to a striker this season?

If we actually go back to one of the Director General’s comments Kent Hughes During the season review, he mentioned that he wanted to select the best player available for the Habs.

If the best available player on our list is a defender, we have to select him.

So it appears that the best player available to the Canadiens is defenseman Zayne Parekh who had a brilliant season in the OHL. In addition, the excellent journalist from VAT Sports Anthony Martineau had spoken to the defense attorney.

The 1.80 meter tall, 80 kilogram defender has been very impressive this season with 33 goals and 63 assists (a total of 96 points in 66 games). This offensive performance is the best for a defenseman of his age in the Ontario Junior League.

I think I’ve improved a lot defensively this year and I’m happy about that because that was one of my main goals. I talk to my coaches a lot […] I also try to compete more during my confrontations in training and I feel like that carries over into the games too […] I know how important defense is in the NHL.

He also mentioned that he had already had a few meetings with the CH employees.

Above all, they wanted to know whether I would remain the same type of player in the NHL. They also asked me how competitive I was. I told them I definitely am. I want to win. That’s all.
