Ottawa investigates cyberattack against Global Affairs Canada

Federal cybersecurity officials confirmed a recent cyberattack on Global Affairs Canada on Monday amid growing tensions over a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The federal government is not saying who it suspects was behind the January 19 attack, which left diplomats still unable to access certain online services almost a week later.

The attack came a day before the Canadian Center for Cybersecurity called on companies to strengthen protections against possible Russian-backed attacks.
