While answering questions from local journalists, the Canadian mayor had to sit down because he didn't feel “well.” According to her team, she is now “out of danger.”
Mild fear this Tuesday, December 5th, for the mayor of Montreal. During a press conference late this morning, Valérie Plante suffered from malaise but is now “out of danger”.
In images from the Canadian Press, the elected official showed signs of weakness as he answered a question from an English-speaking journalist. She seemed to be searching for words and froze for a moment before being forced to sit down. “Oh no, I'm not feeling well,” she then sighed.
She then sat in front of her desk for a few minutes, looked after by her colleagues and then by the rescue workers, without ever completely losing consciousness.
Reassuring news
In the afternoon, the mayor's team wanted to reassure Montrealers about the health of their mayor. “The mayor of Montreal suffered discomfort at a press conference and is fortunately out of danger,” she wrote on her X account, formerly Twitter.
She added: “She will receive all necessary medical support and thanks you for your support.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau quickly responded to the incident and supported Valérie Plante. “I’m thinking of you, Valérie. Speedy recovery,” he said. As did Aref Salem, the leader of the local opposition: “My thoughts are with the mayor after she suffered discomfort during her press conference this morning. I hope you get back in shape quickly.” […]. Quick recovery.”
