In a series of tweets, the British comedian voiced harsh criticism of the airline, even calling it “the worst in North America.”

The 33-year-old actor said he learned less than two minutes before boarding that there was no room for him in first class due to an overbooking issue.

An Air Canada employee simply tore up her ticket in front of her, simply indicating that the flight was fully booked.

Matthew Lewis was then told that if he wanted further clarification or a refund, he should contact the airline's customer service department. However, the location of this film is in Toronto while the actor was at the airport in Orlando, Florida for his role.

The actor claims that he has not received any emails or offers to book another flight.

“She literally ripped up my first class ticket at the gate, gave me an economy class ticket and left. She didn't say a word. I had to call her back and ask, “Why?” explains Neville’s interpreter.

In response to Matthew Lewis' initial tweet, Air Canada wrote that it regretted the issues mentioned by the actor. The airline asked him to write a private message to explain his story in detail.

Mr. Lewis also responded to an internet user who mentioned that Air Canada's service has deteriorated since the pandemic and that he doesn't see how the situation could get worse. He mentioned in passing that his flight back to the UK was on WestJet.

Neville Longbottom's actor also lamented the scourge of overbooking.

“How have we as a society allowed overbooking to become something normal that we accept? It’s crazy,” proclaims Matthew Lewis.

The actor still wanted to make it clear that his harsh comments were not aimed at Canada, a country he adores, he assures.
