Forest fires broke out again in Nova Scotia in eastern Canada. Local authorities declared a state of emergency as 16,000 people needed to be urgently evacuated.

A sky reddened by fire and drivers trying to escape as the flames rush toward the road. 16,000 people had to flee the fires in Nova Scotia. Endless queues of vehicles everywhere extend. Since Sunday 28th of MayA fire threatens the city of Halifax in eastern Canada during dDozens of houses have already been burned down. For 48 hours, Canadairs, helicopters and fire engines have been taking turns to extinguish the extraordinary fire.

State of emergency declared

Local authorities have declared a state of emergency. “This fire was not mastered (…) Today it has spread lessge”says David MeldrumDeputy Chief of the Halifax Fire Department. The wind changed direction and pushed the fire towards the forest. But only rain could put an end to the fires, not precipitationItation is not planned in the coming days.
