If they do nothing, fans of cartoons and superheroes who want access to the extensive Disney+ catalog will have to pay 25% more from December to continue watching their favorite films and series.

In an email Disney+ sent out to its subscribers this week, Disney+ explains that people who subscribed to the $11.99 monthly plan will be eligible for subscriptions on January 1st^um In November, her account was automatically converted to a “Premium” package.

This change comes with a significant 25% increase in the monthly bill, which will rise from $11.99 to $14.99 on December 27th.

This change in the Disney+ offering is explained by the introduction of the monthly package with advertising in Canada, offered for $7.99 per month. Canadians can also downgrade their new “Premium” subscription to a “Standard” subscription, offered for $11.99 per month. However, this discounted subscription includes fewer devices that can be used with one account and lower video and audio quality.

Canadians have until December 27 to cancel or change their subscription if they want to avoid the new “Premium” plan.

Due to provincial law, Quebecers are entitled to a 30-day period after the increase takes effect to reject it and cancel their subscription for free, according to Disney+.

The entertainment giant, which particularly owns productions from the Marvel universes, war of stars and Pixar, without forgetting its own animated films, followed in Netflix’s footsteps earlier this fall and banned account sharing between different households.

For comparison, Netflix offers its ad-supported subscription cheaper than Disney+ ($5.99), but offers standard ($16.49) and premium ($20.99) subscriptions at higher prices.
