Will FIFA make the third kit mandatory for selection?

FIFA has published updated kit regulations. An update that encourages national teams to own a third kit. To date, only 3 nations participating in the World Cup have a third tunic.

World football’s highest governing body, FIFA, has decided to change its kit regulations. Indeed, Article 6.2.5 now states that “ Each team is encouraged to have an alternate second kit in a different color or colors than both the home and away kits. »

This update therefore risks pushing kit manufacturers to consider creating a third kit. We explain why.

Why should national teams have a third kit?

The reason is ultimately very simple. This rule update aims to offer nations an alternative outfit that avoids confusion and embarrassment regarding the color of the kits. For example, Denmark were able to avoid wearing a red or white jersey during their away game against Croatia in the Nations League thanks to their new third kit. Two nations whose main colors are red and white.

Currently only Ecuador, Canada and Denmark have a third kit for the World Cup in Qatar.

Good news for swimwear lovers?

This update to the regulations could also appeal to amateurs and jersey collectors. On the one hand because we can imagine that the equipment manufacturers could have more freedom in their creations, which has resulted in fancier and more original jerseys. On the other hand, because it could emphasize the rarity of these third tunics and thus arouse the curiosity of jersey collectors.

And why not the return of the red jersey for the French team?
