Wearing a mask is no longer mandatory in healthcare facilities in Saskatchewan

Physical distancing measures will also be lifted at provincial facilities, according to a provincial statement. SCHAincluding government agencies, hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities.

Also, all restrictions on food sharing and food donations will be lifted.

However, the state government says the masks will still be available for caregivers and patients who wish to wear them.

Secretary of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health Everett Hindley said the decision came after consultations with the Department of Health and the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Saqib Shahab, been hit.

He adds that this decision taken is the result of better knowledge of the virus.

We want to make sure we treat this disease the same as any other respiratory condition we know of in terms of precautionshe says.

However, the state government points out that private healthcare facilities can decide whether or not to continue to make mask wearing compulsory on their premises.

The province also says the vaccination card will no longer be available for download from April 30.
