Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, will visit Canada on March 23-24, 2023 to continue close cooperation between their countries to strengthen trade ties, create good jobs, the Enlarging and promoting the middle class At the heart of economic growth was the well-being of everyone on both sides of the border. The two heads of state and government will also further intensify their cooperation in the areas of defense and security, climate protection and immigration.
Building on the agreement between Canada, the United States and Mexico, Prime Minister Trudeau and President Biden will emphasize the importance of our mutually beneficial economic relationship to strengthen competitiveness and build resilient supply chains, including when it comes to critical minerals – the building blocks of cleanliness economy. They will also discuss progress under the roadmap for a renewed US-Canada partnership announced in February 2021 to advance bilateral cooperation on shared priorities, including adopting ambitious climate action and building countries where no one is left behind.
Both countries must coordinate their efforts if they are to protect the people of North America from new and emerging threats. During the visit, the Prime Minister and President will highlight ongoing continental defense cooperation, including the key role NORAD plays in the defense of North America. They will also advance cooperation in the Arctic.
Additionally, Prime Minister Trudeau and President Biden will continue to work together on global issues of mutual interest, including continuing their unwavering support for Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s war of aggression and providing solutions to the broader global ramifications of the war, such as food and energy security. They will continue to support Haitians and their efforts to address the ongoing crisis in their country. In addition, leaders will reaffirm their commitment to advancing our countries’ common priorities in the Indo-Pacific region, including national security, economic prosperity, respect for international law and human rights, democratic values, public health and protecting our environment.
Canada and the United States are staunch partners in upholding democracy, human rights and respect for the rule of law, and we will always work together to uphold these shared values in our countries and beyond.
