The unsuccessful rise of the CH | The Quebec Journal

The Montreal Canadiens lost for the second straight season, suffering a 5-4 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings at the Bell Center on Saturday.

Jake Walman gave his team the win with a slap shot that pierced Jake Allen on the glove side.

CH showed character in this match. After leading 3-0 and then 4-2 during the game, a goal from former Red Wings Gustav Lindström tied the two teams at 4-4, capitalizing on a goal from Josh Anderson with 3 minutes, 59 seconds left in the game .

This goal was the 20th goal by Canadian defensemen this season, a National Hockey League record.

The start of the game was particularly difficult for Martin St-Louis’ men, who fell behind 3-0 in the first period. Montreal’s Joe Veleno scored the first goal for Detroit, while Christian Fischer, when his teammates were outnumbered, and Daniel Sprong got the red light.

Defenseman Justin Barron took advantage of a chance rebound in front of Ville Husso’s cage and drove the puck into the net just before the first break to reduce the score to 3-1.

47 seconds after a shorthanded goal from Joel Armia at the start of the second period, Alex DeBrincat gave the guests a 4-2 lead thanks to a one-timer from a pass from Moritz Seider.

Nick Suzuki, with a one-man lead, orchestrated the Habs’ comeback in the final stand, beating Husso with a precise wrist shot.

Goalkeeper Allen made 28 saves on 33 shots in the loss.

The Canadian hosts the Seattle Kraken on Monday evening.
