It was Xavier Simoneau who scored the winning goal less than a minute after Filip Cederqvist scored the opening goal in the first period. The center player showed fighting spirit by using Phillipe Maillet's throw-back to deceive the alertness of goalkeeper Keith Petruzzelli.

Defender Logan Mailloux also shone in his team's victory with a goal and two assists for three points. He now has 32 points in 45 games played this season, fifth in scoring among AHL guards.

In the win, Nathan Légaré scored a brace, as did Simoneau. Jan Mysak also shook the strings for the guests.

The only reaction from the local favorites came from Roni Hirvonen at the end of the second third.

The only bad news for the Rocket was the injury to Mattias Norlinder, who left the game and never returned to the game afterward. Justin Barron also had to miss a few minutes, but found his place on the blue line in his last appearance.

The Laval team's starting goalkeeper, Kasimir Kaskisuo, made 28 saves.

Laval, which will face the Hartford Wolf Pack on February 16, occupies the fifth and final spot, which grants access to the playoffs in the North Section.
