The Innis-Gerin Medal is awarded to a professor at the Université de Montréal

The 2022 Royal Society of Canada (RSC) Honors winners are now known. Jane Jenson, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the Université de Montréal, was awarded the Innis Gérin Medal, which recognizes outstanding and sustained contribution to writing in the social sciences. She will receive her award along with 18 other people whose work will also be recognized during a ceremony the one on 25.11.

Jane Jenson, a prominent social scientist in Canada, has studied various aspects of her chosen field. Internationally known for her conceptual and empirical contributions to political science, sociology and political economy, the one who held the positions of Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and External Relations and then Director of Studies of the Faculty of Arts was always interested in issues of solidarity and social justice. A prolific researcher, she has specifically studied voting behavior, social movements, and conceptualizations of citizenship and social rights in Quebec, Canada, Europe, and Latin America. His work has led to the publication of several books including The gendering of inequalities: women, men and work and The status of citizenships in Europe and America.

She has received several honors throughout her career. She was elected to the RSC Academy of Social Sciences in 1989 and became a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellow in 2005. The Quebec Society of Political Science gave her an Award of Excellence in 2014 for her outstanding contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
