(Ottawa) Alimentation Couche-Tard and its subsidiaries finally have the option to acquire Wilsons, which operates and supplies gas stations in the four Atlantic provinces.

The Competition Bureau initially reported that the proposed transaction would likely result in the elimination or material reduction of competition in the supply of retail gasoline in certain markets in those provinces.
However, to address the Bureau’s concerns, Alimentation Couche-Tard has agreed to sell 46 Wilsons locations and supply arrangements and one Couche-Tard service station to one or more buyers approved by the Commissioner of Competition.
As a result, the Competition Bureau entered into a consent agreement with Alimentation Couche-Tard to acquire Wilsons, which operates and supplies Esso service stations, Wilsons Gas Stops and Go! Store in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
As part of this agreement, Alimentation Couche-Tard, based in Laval, Quebec, will sell retail service stations in 12 markets in New Brunswick, 15 in Nova Scotia, three in Prince Edward and one in Newfoundland and Labrador.
