“The board of directors will be abolished”

Daniel Marcotte, current chairman of the board of the CISSS de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue, believes that future health system boards could be “viable”.

With the healthcare reform proposed by Health Minister Christian Dubé last week, the administrative boards will be abolished and replaced by founding boards.

Daniel Marcotte reports that the collaboration between the CISSS board and management in Abitibi-Témiscamingue has been favorable, which he believes has not been the case in all regions.

I’m not telling you it’s not a loss for the region because the board is an interesting regional representation. There were 15 of us sitting on these boards. There were people from all walks of life who brought a different perspective to the board. On the other hand, the power we had was extremely limited. he describes.

Daniel Marcotte, over our airwaves, summarized the information unearthed following a meeting between Dominique Savoie, Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, and some twenty heads of health and social services centers in Quebec.

[C’est de] ensure that the service is provided throughout the territory of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. This is fundamental for us. As citizens of the territory here, we have no thought of closing any service point. The Boards of Directors must ensure the sustainability of our service points in Abitibi-Témiscaminguenotes Daniel Marcotte.
