Investing.com – Canada: Equity markets ended Tuesday’s session lower; the decline in the , , and sectors contributed to this decline.

At the close in Toronto, the index was down 0.01%.

The best performance of the session for the index is attributed to Interfor Corp (TSX:), up 7.05% or 1.51 points to close at 22.93. In second place we find Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX:) gained 5.96% or 1.55 points to close at 27.54. Stock West Fraser Timber Co Ltd (TSX:) completes this top three, up 4.78% or 4.77 points to end the session at 104.51.

Magna International Inc. (TSX:) was the worst performer of the session, shedding 7.22% or 6.32 points to close at 81.25. Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. (TSX:) is down 4.38% or 3.60 points to end at 78.57. For his part Vermilion Energy Inc. (TSX:) is down 4.01% or 0.86 points to close at 20.59.

Declining stocks outweighed rising stocks on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 531 values ​​to 471 and 114 flat.

The index, which measures implied volatility of S&P/TSX index options, fell 1.31% to 14.26, a new monthly low.

On the other hand, gold for February delivery is up 0.51% or 9.75 points to $1.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude for March delivery fell 1.84% or 1.50 points to $80.12 a barrel, while Brent for March delivery fell 2.28% or 2.01 points to $80 lost $86.18 a barrel.

The CAD/USD pair was unchanged 0.00% at 0.75, while the CAD/EUR pair was unchanged 0.12% at 0.69.

The US dollar index fell 0.22% to 101.69.
