Investing.com – Canada: Equity markets ended Friday’s session higher; growth in the , , and sectors contributed to this increase.

At the close in Toronto, the index was up 0.07% to a 6-month high.

The best performance of the session for the index came from Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX:), up 6.86% or 1.57 points to close at 24.44. In second position we find Athabasca Oil Corp (TSX:), which rose 6.75% or 0.17 points to close at 2.69. Stock Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:) completes this top three, up 5.71% or 0.21 points to end the session at 3.89.

MAG Silver Corp. (TSX:) was the worst performer of the session, down 5.80% or 1.13 points to close at 18.36. Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX:) is down 5.57% or 0.31 points to end at 5.26. For his part Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TSX:) is down 4.68% or 0.58 points to close at 11.82.

Rising stocks outweighed falling stocks on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 574 levels at 414 and 110 flat.

The index, which measures implied volatility of options on the S&P/TSX Index, rose 1.22% to 14.14.

On the other hand, gold for February delivery fell 0.09% or 1.75 points to $1.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude oil for March delivery fell 1.94% or 1.57 points to $79.44 a barrel, while Brent for March delivery fell 1.18% or 1.03 points to $ lost $86.44 a barrel.

The CAD/USD pair was unchanged 0.10% at 0.75, while the CAD/EUR pair was unchanged 0.33% at 0.69.

The US dollar index rose 0.08% to 101.72.
