The presidents of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, members of the North Atlantic Alliance, expressed their strong condemnation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and supported Ukraine’s candidacy for NATO.
This declaration, signed by the Presidents of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Montenegro and Slovakia, was published on the President of Poland’s website.
“We reiterate our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We will not and never will recognize Russian attempts to annex any territory in Ukraine. In return, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told his country “ Strongly supports the entry into NATO of countries that wish to join and can contribute their capabilities”adding that the United States has remained loyal to US policy “open door” the NATO. Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly also commented on Ukraine’s possible membership in the Alliance, recalling that her country had done so “always supported Ukraine’s NATO membership”.
