Sainte-Anne-des-Monts again without obstetrics or an operating room

The organization says it has set up a service corridor with Matane Hospital, about an hour’s drive away.

After several service disruptions last Decemberthe operation of the operating room could be resumed on December 26th. So the start of the new year is like the last few weeks. This disruption in services, like the others, is due to a problem in recruiting and retaining hospital staff, particularly nurses.

Since the operating room is not functional, the obstetrics department also has to be closed for safety reasons. Since October 2nd, this service can no longer be operated just a few days in december.

Here, too, pregnant women over 36 weeks are contacted individually and, if necessary, diverted to the Matane Hospital for delivery.

The CISSS assures that it will do everything to ensure a speedy reopening. The organization says it is actively seeking solutions to improve recruitment and retention of staff in the operating room at Sainte-Anne-des-Monts hospital. The use of self-employed workers is also part of the scenarios examined.

The normal activities of the emergency are guaranteed.
