Keep Monahan a few more seasons?

Canadiens forward Sean Monahan is doing well in his first season with the team, and with his contract expiring this summer, should the Habs move on until then to keep his services for a few more seasons?

The question is increasingly being asked by journalists, analysts and the general public. It definitely fits the bill for former NHLer Philippe Boucher.

“Before his injury (on Monday night) I loved the way he was playing, I want us to think about signing him, he started at JiC on Wednesday. The youngsters click, he’s good on the power play, he plays almost 20 minutes a game, in all situations, against everyone. I would talk to him.”

The general manager of the Voltigeurs de Drummondville, who has been summoned to comment on the trip west the CH has just completed, also gave high marks to strong winger Josh Anderson as well as goalkeeper Jake Allen.

What impresses him most, however, is the consistency of young strikers Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. It’s clear at this point that other NHL teams need to prepare well game after game to face them, and yet both youngsters continue to deliver results.
