End of excitement for everyone who participated in the DV-2024 green card lottery last fall. The results have been available since May 6th. It’s up to you to surrender on the website the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs will not notify you by mail, email, or telephone (any message received announcing your selection is fraudulent). To find out if you’re one of the lucky ones, simply enter the requested information: the confirmation number provided upon registration, your last name, and your date of birth.
This lottery involves applications submitted online between October 5th and November 8th, 2022. If you, like 100,000 or so foreigners (out of millions of applicants), find that you have been selected by the random computer draw, don’t get too excited because that doesn’t mean you’ll get it Green card. This means you are eligible to apply A Diversity Visa (DV) for you and your eligible family members.
It is then necessary for the files drawn by lot to be processed by the American administration before September 30, the date of the end of the financial year. The files are not all checked in a timely manner. Those not seen will then be left – with the chance to try their luck again in October-November by applying again.
If your file has been processed and accepted, you must follow the instructions and provide information and documents before going to a consular interview in the fall. For almost 30 years, up to 55,000 green cards have been awarded every year as part of this process. Much luck !
