In a press release issued on Tuesday, the city said its snow dumps are almost all full as the municipality has received as much snow as it has received in an entire season since the start of winter, or nearly 250 centimeters.
In view of this situation and in anticipation of the coming rainfall, the city submitted an action plan to the municipal council on Tuesday.
The sidewalks of the local streets are no longer plowed, with the exception of the school sectors and the first districts.
In sectors rated as lower priority, snow plows prefer blowing snow rather than transporting it to depots.
The city also prohibits overnight parking in zones B and C until further notice.
The communication department warns that the duration of the snow removal work could also be extended. The level of care will be maintained on the main traffic arteries and collecting roads as well as around the hospitals.
The city states that it cannot develop a new deposit in the short term. However, a project to expand the rue J.-Réal-Desrosiers site is in the pipeline. The municipality is waiting for a permit.
