According to the press release published late Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Abergel, currently CEO of the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, will take office on February 6.
“The appointment of Mr. Abergel as CEO of CHUM represents a significant gain,” Minister Dubé said in the same press release.
“As an experienced manager, distinguished by his in-depth knowledge of the health and social services network, he is the perfect person to fill this position and help provide quality care and support to the population served by this important facility Services to offer metropolis. »
As early as December, Radio-Canada reported that the CHUM board had made its choice and only the one was missingimprimatur of the Council of Ministers to promote this appointment.
Mr. Abergel, highly regarded in the high authorities of the health network but also by his subordinates, had obtained a four-year extension of his mandate at the head of the CIUSSS in 2022, where he had held his position since 2018.
He now replaces Fabrice Brunet, who did not want to extend his mandate at CHUM.
This new appointment is part of a context of major upheaval at the helm of the CISSSs and CIUSSSs; Last April, Radio-Canada said the majority of the leaders of these organizations have been in office during the pandemic no longer held their positions.
