Fire hazard | A reminder of twenty air fryer models

Health Canada has recalled around 20 models of air fryers, also known as this very popular kitchen appliance air fryerdue to the risk of burns and fire.

The recall affects 21 Cosori models. This company has received 205 reports, including 56 in Canada, of fryers catching fire, burning, overheating or emitting smoke. The brand also received 23 reports of minor property damage and 10 reports of minor superficial burns, including 4 reports in Canada, Health Canada reports on its website.

“Stop using the product immediately,” the federal agency said.

Air fryers are small, portable devices that need to be plugged into an outlet. It’s the cable connectors in these devices that overheat, “which poses a potential burn and fire hazard,” says Health Canada.

Consumers should stop using their recalled air fryer. You can request a new device free of charge and directly from Cosori.

The model number can be found on the label under each device and in the instruction manual. The lot number can be found on the bottom or back of the device.

The hot air fryer has found its way into the kitchen in recent years. You can use it to cook all kinds of food – and even desserts – with less oil than with a conventional fryer.
