Mayor Diane Dallaire believes the city of Rouyn-Noranda has been able to move forward in 2022, even though the air quality file was an important item on the agenda of the local council elected a year ago.
Ms. Dallaire reported on all the achievements of the past months at the last Council meeting. In particular, she cited the inauguration of the new terminal, the start of collection of organic materials in rural areas and the hiring of an environmental consultant as her main achievements.
The Mayor acknowledges that some files had to be pushed back a bit due to the length of time that was spent on the Horne Foundry problem. However, she is convinced that the city has taken the necessary steps.
” We’re proud of the work done, but our monitoring role goes on. »
We have led several frontline acts, such as the Special Committee on Foundries, our mandate with its 26 recommendations, or even pressuring the Prime Minister to have a State Administrator, adds Ms Dallaire. We wanted it to be seen as a real priority and it was done. We remain confident because everyone says they want to work on a solution.
For her second year in office, Diane Dallaire says public transport analysis, strategic planning and the establishment of a youth council will be priorities.
