Delusional World lands in Montreal with dancer Louise Lecavalier

Are we really masters of our life and our destiny? This is the question of performance delusional world by Chinese multimedia artist Lu Yang with dancer and choreographer Louise Lecavalier. The event will be presented on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Arsenal Contemporary Art in Montreal.

The performance, part of the 6th International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN), explores the concept of Buddhist reincarnation using motion capture technologies.

Thus, the gestures of Louise Lecavalier, icon of contemporary Canadian dance, are transferred to the screen in the form of an avatar. It will develop in a virtual environment inspired by video games, Japanese manga and club culture, manipulated live by a gamepad.

With this performance, Lu Yang wonders if we really control our bodies or if we submit to psychological illusions because our fate is sealed in advance by divine powers.

delusional world Premiered in 2020 as a live streaming event. This is the first time it’s taking shape in North America.
