The Laval Rocket put on a convincing performance against the Milwaukee Admirals at Place Bell on Friday, but met an Imperial Yaroslav Askarov.
The young Russian goalkeeper, regarded as one of Bettman Circuit’s brightest hopes, was a brick wall in front of 43 of Laval’s 45 tries in a 3-2 win.
The Visitors, on the other hand, only needed 24 shots to pierce Cayden Primeau’s armor three times.
Another jewel of the Nashville Predators was his own offensive engine: Joakim Kemell. The dynamic Finland winger scored the winner in the third period but also made himself Anthony Angello’s accomplice after he poked fun at Jayden Struble.
The latter also played his first professional game of his career. All in all, the young American defender did not look bad and showed his robustness even in defeats.
Gabriel Bourque and Pierrick Dubé gave the red light to Jean-François Houle’s men. John Leonard completed scoring for the Admirals.
Also, Michael McCarron, the Montreal Canadiens’ first-round pick in 2013, carried the Wisconsin team. In the first half, he even served up a caning for Riley McKay, a player much less imposing than he was.
The Rocket will travel to Manitoba for their next game against the Moose on Sunday.
