Alstom’s Coradia iLint, the world’s first hydrogen train, wins the 2023 ACTU Prize for Environmental Sustainability

Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas, said: “This summer we showed that hydrogen trains can be an attractive, safe and viable alternative to diesel on non-electrified routes and that Alstom can do it right here in America. North.” We are proud to receive the 2023 CUTA Environmental Sustainability Award and thank the association for helping to promote innovation and excellence in public transportation in Canada. »

The use of Alstom’s green hydrogen train on this route saved approximately 8,400 liters of diesel and avoided 22 tonnes of direct CO2 emissions compared to the diesel trains that normally operate on this route. During the demonstration project, Alstom and its partners laid the foundation for a complete, safe and efficient hydrogen ecosystem for the heavy transport sector in North America, from production to fueling to operations. This is the Americas Innovation Center’s first project to contribute thought leadership and provide technical, operational and regulatory expertise on green propulsion solutions.

In addition, Alstom and its partners hosted 34 business, government and regulatory delegations from across North America to learn about this hydrogen propulsion technology to set the stage for broader implementation of green mass transit in North America.

Alstom also received a second prize from the ACTU for the initiative Rainbow traina virtual Pride parade, the first ever in the equity, diversity and inclusion category.
