According to the President of the Planning Commission, Geneviève Laroche, this relaxation should not cause additional nuisance. It’s really reserved for primary residences. So when we go on vacation, we can rent our house, which we will live in again later.

Nobody will be able to buy a building and rent accommodation on short-term platforms. »

Ms Laroche also believes that this decision will not help exacerbate the housing shortage as it will not be possible to buy an apartment building for short-term rental only.

Geneviève Laroche wanted to reassure elected officials by mentioning that the city can request the revocation of a landlord’s permit on grounds of nuisance.
