AHMEDABAD, INDIA, January 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ –AdaniEnterprises Limited (AEL), part of Adani’s diversified portfolio of companies, today signed an agreement to start a pilot project to develop a hydrogen fuel cell electric truck (FCET) for mining logistics and transportation with AshokLeyland, India, and BallardPower, Canada.

This collaboration is the first hydrogen mining truck project in Asia. The demonstration project is led by AEL, a company specializing in the mining and development of green hydrogen projects for the delivery, transportation and deployment of hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Ballard, a leading manufacturer of PEM fuel cell engines, will supply the FCmove fuel cell engine^TM for the hydrogen truck and Ashok Leyland, one of the world’s largest bus manufacturers, will provide the vehicle platform and technical support. The launch of FCET in India is planned for 2023.

Adani Group has previously announced that it plans to invest more than $50 billion in green hydrogen and its associated ecosystems over the next decade, which translates to a capacity of up to 3 million tons of green hydrogen per year.

The hydrogen mining truck will weigh 55 tons, have three hydrogen tanks, have a range of 200 km and be powered by fuel cell technology EMP from 120kW from Ballard.
