A medical imaging machine at Shawville Hospital was not working until Tuesday

A computed tomography (CT) scanner breakage is forcing Shawville Hospital to suspend that radiology service to patients until Tuesday, according to the Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS).

Patients who urgently need to undergo such medical imaging examination will be transferred to the nearest hospital center with a working CT scanner (CTWhere CT scan in English).

A CT scan is a test that uses X-rays to show the internal structures of the body. It enables a large number of precise images to be taken and hidden regions to be revealed on plain X-ray images can be read on the website ZISS the Outaouais.

This isn’t the first time the device has glitched by CT occurs at Shawville Hospital and results in service disruption. It ruptured three times in 2021, according to public health data.
