A housing policy for the CMM

Funding for social and community housing, integrated housing and zoning planning, and a diversified offering adapted to the changing needs of households are the key orientations on which the first Metropolitan Community of Montreal (CMM) Metropolitan Housing Policy is based.

That CMM see it a strategic tool aimed at mobilizing and coordinating the efforts of the different housing actors to tackle the complex challenges arising in the context of demographic change and the climate crisis.

But to get there, the CMM has set several goals, including a number of measures such as the integration into the Metropolitan Land Use and Development Plan (PMAD) of social and affordable housing targets set according to the needs and characteristics of the area.

That CMM also intends to set up a program to do so thoughtful densification and social mixing, in which experts help them to identify and implement different housing strategies and develop tools to promote the integration of social and affordable housing.

The different levels of government are not left out as the CMM will contact you for Ensuring adequate funding for programs and the adoption of legislative measures and amendments to increase available space and encourage the launch of new housing projects.
