A doctor practicing in Canada is seduced by managing a plot of land for 1 euro per m² and settles in Creuse

The power of the Internet and social networks is surprising. On TikTok, Abdelkader Ouabadi heard about the campaign to sell land in Fursac for one euro per square meter.

“It was someone living in Switzerland who passed on the information,” says Abdelkader Ouabadi, 52. “First I wanted to settle in Switzerland.” After more than 20 years in Canada, this doctor from Algeria wanted to move. “I had the idea of settling in Europe, in France, to be closer to my country, closer to the Mediterranean. I was tired of six months of cold.”

After seeing Fursac's ad online, he contacted city hall. “The mayor asked me to work in the city,” the doctor continues.

He is waiting for his visa for France

Doctor Ouabadi is currently working at a hospital in Quebec City. He will soon settle in Creuse with his family. He will work as a private general practitioner at the Fursac Health Center. A plot of land in the housing estate has been reserved for him and it was difficult to occupy it.

It has been two months since he began the procedures to move to France. “We thought the process would be easy, but it ended up being a bit tedious,” he laments. He is still waiting for his visa.

Abdelkader Ouabadi wants to settle in Fursac as soon as possible. He has already sold his home in Quebec and is currently in a temporary rental. “I hope we spend Christmas in Creuse,” he smiles. He will come as a couple with his 5-year-old son, who will attend the local school.

More quality of life

The countryside doesn't scare him.” I know it's the country. The advantage is that it is quiet and safe. In Quebec we had a house in a remote region. We like remote regions. There is a better quality of life than in cities where there is a lot of traffic. Doctor Ouabadi also values the relationship with his patients. He should therefore quickly integrate into Creuse.
