The sky continues to fall on the head of Max Pacioretty, who suffered a second Achilles tendon rupture in months on Thursday night.
The injury sustained the former Montreal Canadiens captain in the final minute of the Carolina Hurricanes’ game against the Minnesota Wild.

It seemed very painful for the 34-year-old hockey player, who automatically grabbed his right leg.
On Friday, doctors’ reports were not very encouraging when the results of a magnetic resonance imaging examination became known. The daily newspaper “Raleigh News & Observer” pointed out at the beginning of the evening that the player had injured his Achilles tendon.
This is another disaster for Pacioretty. The American returned to action in early January after missing the first few months of the campaign. In August he had become a victim of this fracture for the first time.
“He’s not in a good mood,” Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour said Friday. He knows we’re all thinking of him, but that won’t change much. We don’t know exactly what happened, but it doesn’t look good.”
The North Carolina team put Pacioretty’s name on the indefinite disabled list. She had acquired the sniper services from the Vegas Golden Knights this summer for future fees.
The veteran has scored three goals in five games this season. He has 645 points, including 326 goals, in 855 National League games during his career.
