The 1,110 cyclists who took part in the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie crossed the finish line in Varennes on Sunday afternoon. The event was something very special for its leaders, who organized it for the last time in its current form.

This thirteenth race raised more than three million dollars for the Grand Défi Foundation. The funds are redistributed in the community. The 1000K has raised more than $30 million since its inception.
Back to the drawing board
The Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie team now looks to the future and begins discussions about the new form that the Grand Défi will take.

For environmental reasons, the organization has to change its version for the next events. One of the main causes is the large number of recreational vehicles accompanying the cyclists during the event.
The founder says he has the support of his team and participants. At the end of the week, ideas came to me from the 1000 cyclists. These proposals are all valid and we now have to see what we do with all of this.
Details on the new formula are yet to be released. However, Pierre Lavoie stressed that the next editions could welcome more participants.
