“Perfect on screen”, a new song for Karkwa

Thirteen years after the release of their last original record, The glass pathsQuebec rock band Karkwa delighted a generation of music lovers on Wednesday morning by releasing the music video for a brand new track.

The piece entitled Perfect on screenwas first aired on the music side The ear canal and will be published this Thursday at dawn on the various digital training platforms.

The five members of Karkwa – Louis-Jean Cormier, François Lafontaine, Julien Sagot, Stéphane Bergeron and Martin Lamontagne – offer a hybridization of the group’s punch and the textures and rhythms of Cormier’s solo career in this new piece.

“On the edge of drama, we want her / She feels alive,” it says. The clip from Perfect on screenby Charles-Antoine Olivier and Xavier Bossé, shows the actress Pascale Bussières in a frontal and close-up sequence.

Karkwa regrouped in 2017 for a benefit concert for the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, whose main building had been hit by a fire.

The flagship group of the early 2000s Quebec alternative scene released four original albums. In 2012, an album recorded on the show had been her swan song.

Karkwa has won ten Félix in his career and in 2010 also won the Polaris award, an award for the best record in Canada. To date, the group is the only French-speaking recipient of this important award.
