ICE HOCKEY. Defending Chaudière-Appalaches Junior AA Hockey League champion Model de Lotbinière won his streak against Expert Junior AA de Saint-Romuald in seven games. Games five, six and seven took place on February 24th, 25th and 26th.

February 24th

The fifth game of this duel was played in favor of Saint-Romuald, who won the game 6 to 2. In the loss, Philippe Gosselin, losing 8-11 in the first period, and Ryan Gudernatsch, 16-33 in the third period, excelled for the model.

February 25th

Back at the GH Vermette Center, the model had yet to say her last word. Still, the game didn’t start in Model’s favor as Saint-Romuald opened the scoring at 6:33 of the first period. The second engagement was again in favor of the Expert, who doubled his lead to 5:54.

The start of the last third of the game was like the previous ones as Saint-Romuald extended their lead to 3:41. With her back against the wall, the model had no choice but to fight back. Ismaël Caux was the first to beat the Lévis goalkeeper by 6:56. But the expert’s defense didn’t give up and it took until the end of the third until Ryan Gudernatsch scored the second point for his team with 17:17. He also scored the equalizer at 19:25 that sent both teams into overtime.

Finally, after 2:59 in overtime, Mathieu Aubin allowed his team to depart in a 4-3 win, forcing the presentation of a seventh and final game.

February 26th

Determined to win, the two teams defended each other until the end of this last game, which ended 4 to 3 in favor of Lotbinière.

In the first half, Saint-Romuald offered his supporters an opening goal at 6:47 of the first half. The second engagement belonged to the model, who hit the goalkeeper twice with the nets of Laurent Demers (10:08) and Ismaël Caux (16:53).

Saint-Romuald had not spoken his last word and took the lead again in the last third of the game with 6:21 and 7:38. Jayson Bety kept his team in the game at 8-16 by equalizing the odds.

Finally, the result of this meeting was also played in overtime and it was Marc-Olivier Lemay who finished the meeting with 0:31 and gave the model the victory.
