After a week of mediation, the federal government is insisting on offering a pay cut of the equivalent to nearly 11,000 civil servants in the TC group grappling with record inflation and a possible recession.
The new offer, first offered during September Mediation in common affairsrepresents an average annual increase of 2.06% over four years, and the Treasury Board did not move during the arbitration session, which took place on October 17-21.
TC Group negotiators have made it clear that this offer is not acceptable and that they want a fair and equitable settlement.
The government demands concessions and offers nothing to address the issues important to members of the TC class, including the many severance payments that would ensure fair compensation for our members.
In response to this inaction, the PSAC is offering a Strike preparation, in person and online, to more than 165,000 members of the federal civil service. The goal: tighten the screw so that the employer negotiates in good faith.
The union will address these demands over time Hearings of the Public Interest Commission set up by the Federal Institute for Industrial Relations and Employment. The hearings will take place from November 28 to November 1ah December for general topics and December 9th for the TC group.
If these hearings do not result in an agreement, PSAC members must be prepared to step up pressure tactics to win the case. The strike is not excluded.
