tax credits
All Canadians with taxable income benefit from generous tax credits when they donate to the Liberal Party of Canada. The amount of tax credit you have to pay depends on the sum of all your political donations.
If you have already made a contribution this year, please use the table below to calculate your accumulated tax credit.
- Any donation between $0 and $400 qualifies you for a 75% refund
- Any donation between $400 and $750 qualifies you for $300 plus 50% of any amount over $400
- Any donation over $750 qualifies you for $475 plus 33⅓% of any amount over $750 up to a maximum of $650 per year
contribution limit
Only Canadian citizens or permanent residents can make political contributions in the following amounts:
- A maximum of US$1,675 to be divided among all registered leadership candidates in a specific leadership contest.
- A maximum of $1,675 distributed to all entities of each registered political party such as constituency associations, nominating candidates and candidate campaigns in a calendar year
- A maximum of $1,675 for each registered political party of their choice during a calendar year
