Insurance for working holiday programs

The Working Holiday Programs are aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 30 (35 for Argentina, Australia and Canada) who wish to go abroad for tourist and cultural purposes in one of the partner countries for a maximum of one year Opportunity to work there, to increase their financial resources.

The framework of this program is established on a reciprocal basis by a bilateral agreement that France has (so far) sixteen countries or territories: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand , Peru, Taiwan, Uruguay.
The agreement with Ecuador, signed in Quito on June 18, 2021, entered into force on May 1, 2022. The working holiday visa for Ecuador is free of charge.

The agreement signed with Peru on October 22, 2018 enabled the effective issuance of working holiday visas from April 2022 due to the health crisis.

With the exception of Australia and New Zealand, the number of participants in this program is limited and determined each year between the participating countries. So far, these quotas amount to:
7,050 for Canada,
In 2022, 1,535 additional places will be available for PVT Canada, bringing the total to 8,585.
2,000 for Korea,
1,500 for Japan,
1,300 for Argentina,
750 for Hong Kong,
500 for Brazil and Taiwan,
400 for Chile and Colombia,
300 for Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.

requirements :
Not be accompanied by dependent children;
Possess a valid French passport;
Be in possession of a return ticket or sufficient resources to purchase a return ticket;
have the necessary financial resources to cover their needs at the beginning of their stay. The minimum level of funding is set each year by the signatory states. So far, the minimum amount of resources per country is set at:
Argentina – €2,500;
Australia – 5,000 AUD, approximately €3,200;
Brazil – €2,500;
Canada – 2,500 CAD or approximately €1,760;
Chile – €2,500;
Colombia Young French people must certify that they have had an average bank income of at least 5 monthly minimum salaries over the past 3 months – currently COP 3,200,000 – ie an amount of approximately €750 per month
If necessary, provide a cover letter or even a CV, provide a medical certificate and a clean criminal record.

Justify that you have taken out private insurance covering all risks related to illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization and repatriation for the entire duration of the stay.
