Quaker Canada launched a voluntary nationwide recall of some of its granola bars and cereals on Thursday due to possible salmonella contamination.
This decision affects almost forty products in different flavors, from Croque Nature cereals to soft Quaker Chewy bars, dips and yogurts to Délices Capitaine Crounche berry-flavored bars.
The expiration date is between January 11th and July 9th or until September 7th, 2024.
Quaker Canada said it made the decision following a recall initiated early Thursday in the United States by the Quaker Oats Company. This measure is being taken in Canada out of an abundance of caution
the Canadian company said in a press release.
Consumers are asked to check whether they have any of the products affected by the recall and, if necessary, to dispose of them. It is emphasized that the recalled products should not be consumed.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says food is contaminated with the bacteria Salmonella They don't necessarily have any visible changes or suspicious smells, but they can make you sick.
The bacteria can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are at risk of serious and sometimes fatal infections.
L'CFIA says it is currently conducting a food safety investigation that could lead to the recall of other products.
