Xhekaj appeared to have injured his left shoulder when he fell victim to a hard hit from Ivan Barbashev in the second period of the Habs’ 6-5 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night.
Shortly after this contact, he went to the locker room and did not return to the game.
For his part, defender Jordan Harris received the green light from doctors to return to the game. Harris suffered an upper-body injury last Saturday against the Boston Bruins. He faced the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday but did not play against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday and the Golden Knights on Thursday.
Harris should therefore take Xhekaj’s place in the Canadiens’ lineup when the team visits the Bruins on Saturday night.
Striker RafaĆ«l Harvey-Pinard also missed the Canadian’s training session on Friday. His health is also assessed daily.
Harvey-Pinard missed his turn three times after suffering a lower-body injury against the Arizona Coyotes on November 2nd. He returned to the game against the Bruins on November 11 and played three games before being sidelined again on Thursday against the Golden Knights, again due to a lower-body injury.
