VANCOUVER, BC – Golf Canada, in partnership with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), today announced the final competition draw for the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open to be held August 22-27 at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia , to be discharged.
Defending champion Paula Reto is surrounded by a brilliant field of world elite golfers, including nine of the top ten golfers in the world and 22 of the top 25 players in the Race to CME Globe. The competition draw includes 16 winners from this year’s LPGA Tour and all major championship holders from 2023, including the winner of two major tournaments and nOh World 1 Lilia Vu.
Nine of the top ten golfers in the Rolex World Ranking will compete in Vancouver, including Canadian sensation and CPKC Ambassador Brooke Henderson (bOh 10 in the world) alongside her top 10 sisters Lilia Vu (No.1), Nelly Korda (No.2), Jin Young Ko (No.3), Céline Boutier (No.4), Ruoning Yin (No.5 ), Lydia Ko (#6), Hyo-Joo Kim (#7), and Allisen Corpuz (#8). Other international stars adored by golf fans will also include World No. 11, Minjee Lee, World No. 19, Linn Grant, World No. 15, Nasa Hataoka, World No. 21, Lexi Thompson and World No. 31, Rose Zhang, be.
Henderson, the 25-year-old Canadian golfer with 13 LPGA Tour victories to her credit, will lead a squad of 10 Canadians including Maddie Szeryk of London, Ontario and Alena Sharp of Hamilton, Ontario along with the pros from Team Canada Brigitte Thibault from Rosemère, QC, and Sarah-Ève Rhéaume from Quebec. Rounding out this group of Canadians are five amateur members of Team Canada, including 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship winner Lauren Kim of Surrey, BC, Katie Cranston of Oakville, ON, Lauren Zaretsky of Thornhill, ON, Brooke Rivers of Brampton , ON and Angela Aurora of Surrey, BC.
Vancouver native and Shaughnessy Golf Club member Victoria Liu will be playing at her home club thanks to a tournament waiver.
The 2023 CPKC Women’s Open competition roster includes 16 winners from this year’s LPGA Tour, including all major champions of 2023, as well as eight past CPKC Women’s Open champions – Paula Reto (2022), Jin Young Ko (2019), Brooke Henderson ( 2018). ), Sung Hyun Park (2017), Ariya Jutanugarn (2016), Lydia Ko (2012, 2013 and 2015), So Yeon Ryu (2014) and Cristie Kerr (2006).
The 2020 CPKC Women’s Open was originally planned to be hosted at the AV McCann designed Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club course, however the event was canceled due to the global pandemic. With this year’s championship in Shaughnessy, it is the only golf club in 20 years to have hosted both the men’s and women’s Canadian Open National Golf Championships. Shaughnessy will also be one of only six Canadian golf clubs to have hosted the CPKC Women’s Open, RBC Canadian Open, Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship and Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship.

The final five passes for the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open competition draw will be awarded later this week and the remaining four spots will be awarded after the qualifying event on Monday, August 21 at Point Gray Golf & Country Club.

Golf Canada and CPKC are hosting the sixth annual CPKC Women of Influence Summit on Tuesday, August 22 at nearby Marine Drive Golf Club as part of the week-long celebrations surrounding the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open. CPKC Influencer will bring together like-minded businesspeople across the country together for a day of networking, empowerment and philanthropy. The summit will also increase awareness of the CPKC Women’s Open as attendees will have weekday access to the tournament and golf lessons.
