POLITICS. It’s time to take stock for Beauce MP Richard Lehoux. The last session of Parliament ended last Thursday, June 22, in the Ottawa House of Commons.
One of the issues that caught the attention of the National Committee on Agriculture and Food is the closure of the Olymel processing plant in Vallée-Jonction. Key actions taken included holding an emergency committee meeting, sending a series of letters of recommendation to key ministers concerned and organizing a discussion with Secretary Sean Fraser to discuss possible action to relocate migrant workers.
“The parliamentary session that ended was very eventful. Much remains to be done when we return to Parliament in September. Still, I’m proud of the work I’ve been able to do with my conservative colleagues. We are the real team that can hold the NDP Liberal government to account and we will continue to do so,” he said in a press release.
In the House of Representatives, Mr. Lehoux has been able to ask 14 questions since the start of the year on a variety of issues including inflation, food costs, labor shortages and agriculture. He also made five plenary statements and three speeches, including on the Firearms and Budget Bill C-21.
In recent months, the MP has also announced financial support through the New Horizons for Seniors (NHSP) and Canada Summer Jobs (CSS) programs. For PNHA, 29 projects will be launched in the region in 2024 with a total investment of US$530,000. As part of the EÉC, 148 young people can benefit from the program this summer and gain new professional experience.
This summer, the MNA for Beauce will be traveling all over the region to take part in the many activities on offer and to meet with citizens.
