Residents of Parent are regularly diverted to the La Tuque hospital when trying to get medical care in their community, the municipal council for the Parent sector in La Tuque, criticizes Éric Chagnon.

For a year or two [quand] We go to the CLSC and are almost automatically transferred to the emergency room in La Tuque, 200 kilometers away, he explains. It wasn’t like that before.

He gives the example of a person who had a urinary tract infection and was told to go to the emergency room at the Center de services du Haut-Saint-Maurice in La Tuque, a 400km round trip.

We don’t think it makes sense to send people onto the streets like that, e.g [problèmes de santé] minors […] what should be regulated here on site. »

A quote from Éric Chagnon, Councilor for the Parents’ Area

The elected official of District 1 claims that the CLSC de Parent is equipped for telemedicine, but the service is not currently used.

He believes the presence of super nurses could improve the situation. He also points out that there is no pharmacy in the municipality.

Éric Chagnon claims to have contacted the regional health authorities without getting clear answers from them.

We got in touch with the Center for Integrated Health and Social Services at the University of Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec (CIUSSS MCQ) on Tuesday morning. The communications department replied that they would find out and maybe get back to us with answers. As of Wednesday morning, we had received no further information.
