10 to 15 cm of snow is expected in parts of Saskatchewan

Several western provinces, including Saskatchewan, are currently experiencing a sudden cold snap, marking the start of an early winter period. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), 10 to 15 cm of snow will fall in certain regions of the province.

The federal agency says southern Saskatchewan will experience its first bout of winter weather Monday evening. Everything was supposed to continue throughout the night.

Heavy snow will fall in the southwest of the province before moving east and northeast.

Snow associated with this system is expected to be relatively intense, with snow accumulation reaching 2 to 3 centimeters per hour.

The heaviest snow is expected to fall between Regina and Saskatoon early Tuesday morning, the weather bureau said.

This weather warning affects Highway 11, which connects the province’s two largest cities.

Although some snow will likely melt in contact with relatively warm ground, heavy snowfall will likely result in 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm) of snow accumulating in areas with heavier snow.emphasizes Environment Canada.

In addition to the snow, this system will bring moderate northerly winds, causing falling temperatures and snowdrifts in places.

Travelers should prepare for limited visibility and accumulations of snow or slush on the roads, according to the federal agency’s guidelines.

Temperatures are also expected to fall below freezing, then to -5°C and -10°C see you next weekend and Halloween, depending ECCC.
