A rumor out of Europe links Filip Zadina to the Montreal Canadiens, which would be a strange turn of events considering his statement at the 2018 draft. But for now, we have to take this information with a grain of salt.
It is Czech journalist Pavel Barta who reports in this edition about the interest of the Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche.
The problem is that Barta had initially reported that his client was preparing to conclude an agreement with another formation.
In another publication, Barta mentioned the interest of three other teams, which raises doubts about the accuracy of his information.
Let’s go back to 2018: Montreal Canadiens fans demanded that Zadina be selected third overall, but Trevor Timmins turned to Finnish center Jesperi Kotkaniemi instead.
Zadina was selected sixth overall by the Detroit Red Wings and fired a dart at the Canadians by predicting that he would “fill their gates” in the coming years – a statement that has become very old news, as Zadina may now be settling for a professional tryout after underwhelming performances with the Red Wings and then the San Jose Sharks.
