Quebec excelled by winning ten titles in the senior tournaments presented at the conclusion of the Canadian Open Championships. Yanis Hachimi of the St-Paul L’Ermite Judo Club won a silver medal in the 73 kg category.
Mercier-Ross, who is entered in the under 73kg class, was looking to bounce back after finishing fifth the day before in the under 21s. “We know each other very well and I knew I had to be patient. I took my time for analysis during the fight and kept the same strategy as on Saturday. I stayed patient, used my usual techniques and just waited for the right moment to attack,” the Waza-ari winner commented to her staunchest supporters.
